We provide online LD tutoring in the following areas:

- homeschool support

- study skills and time management coaching
Our tutors are also available to remotely supervise and support students as they complete the remote class projects assigned by their teachers in school.
How does online tutoring work?
Online LD tutoring takes place primarily over video calls, which are supplemented with a variety of interactive learning tools, including digital whiteboards, quizzes, and mock tests. With a decade of virtual tutoring experience under our belt, we can provide families with a seamless experience, whether through Zoom, Skype, or another platform.

Unlike most remote learning programs offered by schools, virtual LD tutoring sessions at CATES are conducted one-to-one and the pace of sessions is set by the learner. This allows us to devote real time and energy into meeting the unique educational needs of each LD student.
Sessions are targeted specifically to each student’s priorities and adapt to meet evolving educational needs. With the individual attention and personalized instruction strategy that our tutors can provide, students with learning differences thrive at CATES.
Moreover, our online tutors practice CATES’s holistic methodology: as well as academic concepts and learning strategies, sessions focus on the social, emotional, and physical factors that drive performance.

HOW WE WORK
CATES Learning Specialists in NYC are trained to work with a multitude of learning differences that may interfere with cognition, organization skills, retention of content, and processing speed. Programs begin with a diagnostic assessment and careful analysis of the student’s performance. Based on the results, our Head Learning Specialist coordinates with the student’s matched tutor to create a customized course of study in preparation for the student’s full schedule of standardized tests, academic work, and/or applications in an online or in-person setting. Introduction of content and test-taking strategies are carefully applied to ease anxiety or difficulty that may inhibit students from meeting their goals. For students who mainly struggle with processing, our Learning Specialists provide time-tested strategies to improve speed and efficiency, which can significantly increase test scores—at times beyond expectations.
